28 June 2020

,

The following are the Mass schedules for the coming weeks:

St Mary’s Church
Sunday: 9am, 11am & 1pm
Weekdays: 7:30am & 9:30am
Saturday: 9:30am & 6pm (Vigil Mass)

St Oliver’s Church
Sunday: 8am, 10am & 12noon
Weekdays: 7:30pm
Saturday: 7pm (Vigil Mass)

Attendance is limited to 50 persons at present until the government establishes and circulates a protocol for all places of worship. We hope and pray that this will happen soon and in the meantime, we invite parishioners and families to consider attending one Mass per week in church and to follow the other Masses via the livestream.

Sincere thanks to the 100+ parishioners who have made themselves available help with the stewarding and sanitzing of our churches in the weeks ahead.
Their attendance at training sessions during the past week shows a great eagerness to support other parishioners as we make the gradual return to Mass as a community of faith, hope and love.

Novena in honour of Ss Peter & Paul

, ,

We are preparing to reopen of our Churches from 29 June – the feast of the Holy Apostles Peter and Paul. This is a joy for us all in the parish as we prepare to gather once again to be nourished around the Altar of the Lord.

Our novena prayers are included below in an A4 leaflet format.

Defend, O Lord your servants
from all dangers of body and soul.
Through the intercession
of the holy apostles Peter and Paul,
in union with Mary the mother of God,
grant that your people may soon rejoice
to gather around your altar,
to be nourished by your Word
and by your Sacred Body and Blood,
you who live and reign for ever and ever. Amen

Corpus Christi procession 2020

Ten photos in a short video which capture last night's Corpus Christi procession. Thanks to the Gardaí for their stewarding help, to parishioners along the route from St Mary's to St Finian's Terrace for their prayerful accompaniment and to the families who attended and modelled good social distancing! A short video is included below from the Blessed Sacrament Procession which was held on Sunday 14 June in honour of the Solemnity of Corpus Christi.

Another video will be shared on this webpage and also on Facebook in the coming days.

Corpus Christi

,

Every blessing to all our parishioners for the beautiful feast of Corpus Christi – which has taken on a very subdued tone in contrast to the celebrations, festivities and processions of previous years.

We are inviting parishioners to make a visit to the Lord at some stage during the coming week. St Mary’s is open daily after the final scheduled Mass until 6pm. St Oliver’s is open daily from 3pm – 6pm.

Social distancing is being observed in both churches of our parish. We are grateful to parishioners who have helped us to maintain our churches as welcoming places of prayer during the past number of months.

Following the guidance document published by the Irish Episcopal Conference last week we are now requesting the help of volunteers so that we can open BOTH churches of our parish for daily Mass from Monday 29 June. This will be a sustained effort over a number of weeks so we hope that many people will be able to offer their time and assistance.

Cemetery-Sunday
,

On the morning and afternoon of Tuesday 2 June 2020, the priests of the parish made a pilgrimage of prayer from St Mary’s Cemetery and on to Dunmoe, Donaghmore, St Finian’s, the famine burial ground at Our Lady’s Hospital, Cannistown, Old Athlumney and concluding at the Crypt at St Mary’s Church.

We prayed for all who are buried in the Cemeteries of the Parish and blessed
all the graves.

We are grateful to all who maintain our cemeteries
and we wish to thank all who tend the graves with loving care.

Go mbeirimid beo ar an am seo arís!
May we all be alive at the same time next year!

As our gatherings at family graves in early July will not be possible this year, we invite you to share this link with relations and friends who normally travel home for Cemetery Devotions every year.
