In recent months, parishioners added your names to the parish mailing list. Others among you have been in touch with your petitions for our Novena to Our Lady of Perpetual Help.

Some other kind souls contacted us about a funeral Mass or some other ceremony which they viewed online. You have shared with us the consolation which the prayers and sense of being connected with our parish offered at that time. This sense of being connected has taken on a new currency and language as we work to drag the Corona virus from our communities during the coming weeks.

This week’s parish bulletin went to print before the revised Government measures were announced on Friday evening. As a result, some of the information below – especially in the yellow box – will need to be adjusted on Monday morning.

We will keep updates on this page in the coming days as we all learn to adjust to our new daily arrangements.

The stringent measures which have been put in place for families in Ireland will hopefully bring as many of our parishioners through the coming week, into Holy Week and into a newer appreciation of the gift of life this Easter.

Five points to conclude:

• Fathers Declan, Robert, Louis & Shane are keeping you all and your families in our daily prayers and Masses. Please keep us and our families in YOUR prayers.

• Every scheduled weekend and daily parish Mass (including anniversary Masses) will continue to be offered and can be viewed online via

• The Rosary will be prayed after the 9:30am Mass from Monday – Friday.

• St Mary’s is open every afternoon from 12:00noon – 6:00pm for private personal prayer. St Oliver’s is open every afternoon from 3:00pm – 6:00pm for private personal prayer.

7:30pm devotions from Sunday – Friday from St Mary’s will be broadcast on the webcam.

Urbi et Orbi 27 March 2020

, ,

This Extraordinary Urbi et Orbi lacked the usual crowds, colour, musical salutes and concelebrants. Instead we saw the successor of St Peter in a completely empty Piazza San Pietro leading his people in prayer and towards the blessings and courage which Christ offers. The icon of Our Lady and the crucifix from San Marcello highlighted the value of devotional images which give comfort and strength in the homes of all believers.

The time of Eucharistic Adoration which was followed around the world allowed Pope Francis to connect with many parishes in the world who have helped families to understand the beautiful Spiritual Communion.

The abiding memory for many viewers was of Pope Francis in the atrium of St Peter’s Basilica imparting the Eucharistic blessing while Church bells combined with sirens in the background. The majestic Bernini altar, the alabaster Holy Spirit window and the splendour of St Peter’s was dimmed in these moments of prayer as Christ’s presence brought hope and strength to all who received the Eucharistic blessing.

Pope Francis encouraged us all to pray incessantly. In a moving ceremony he extended the plenary indulgence to all who are sick with the Coronavirus, to their families, to healthcare workers and to all working to assist others at the front line. An updated list of online Masses in the diocese of Meath is available here.
