Confirmation Day 2020

, ,

Bishop Deenihan and Bishop Smith will be joined by the Vicars General for the celebration of the Sacrament of Confirmation for the Candidates from our parish on Tuesday 25 August 2020.

This year’s ceremonies have been organised in line with current restrictions which require a church building to be divided into separate sections with a limit of 50 persons per section.

In preparation for the ceremony, we are providing the 4 page leaflet below with responses for the Confirmation Candidates.

Novena in honour of Ss Peter & Paul

, ,

We are preparing to reopen of our Churches from 29 June – the feast of the Holy Apostles Peter and Paul. This is a joy for us all in the parish as we prepare to gather once again to be nourished around the Altar of the Lord.

Our novena prayers are included below in an A4 leaflet format.

Defend, O Lord your servants
from all dangers of body and soul.
Through the intercession
of the holy apostles Peter and Paul,
in union with Mary the mother of God,
grant that your people may soon rejoice
to gather around your altar,
to be nourished by your Word
and by your Sacred Body and Blood,
you who live and reign for ever and ever. Amen

Ten photos in a short video which capture last night's Corpus Christi procession. Thanks to the Gardaí for their stewarding help, to parishioners along the route from St Mary's to St Finian's Terrace for their prayerful accompaniment and to the families who attended and modelled good social distancing! Cemetery-Sunday
,

On the morning and afternoon of Tuesday 2 June 2020, the priests of the parish made a pilgrimage of prayer from St Mary’s Cemetery and on to Dunmoe, Donaghmore, St Finian’s, the famine burial ground at Our Lady’s Hospital, Cannistown, Old Athlumney and concluding at the Crypt at St Mary’s Church.

We prayed for all who are buried in the Cemeteries of the Parish and blessed
all the graves.

We are grateful to all who maintain our cemeteries
and we wish to thank all who tend the graves with loving care.

May we all be alive at the same time next year!

As our gatherings at family graves in early July will not be possible this year, we invite you to share this link with relations and friends who normally travel home for Cemetery Devotions every year.

St Joseph Novena

,

During the coming week, we will lead nine days of prayer from Thursday 23 April until Friday 1 May. As we pray for all who are affected by the COVID-19 pandemic, we will explore how St Joseph the Worker can inspire us to carry out our Christian duty in spiritual and corporal works of mercy at this time.

In 1955, Pope Pius XII, proposed the example and intercession of Joseph as worker and provider. On this date many countries celebrate the dignity and cause of human labour. In recent weeks, many families in our parish and beyond have been working extra hard – especially in maintaining “frontline services”, in home-school duties and in extra charitable outreaches in our parish,

These reminders (below) of the Corporal and Spiritual works of mercy have grown in relevance and necessity for many parishioners during this time of pandemic. The two posters which are displayed at St Joseph’s Shrine formed part of our path of prayer and reflection for parishioners and pilgrims who sought God’s indulgent mercy during the Jubilee of Mercy.

Sacred Heart Novena

,

On Feb 14th we began a Solemn Novena to Our Lady of Perpetual Help.

Our intention was to pray our way every week towards Good Friday 2020. Little did we imagine how much comfort and strength we would receive from Our Lady during the early days of the COVID-19 pandemic.

Next Friday 24 April we begin another solemn novena, this time to the Most Sacred Heart of Jesus – as Friday will be nine Fridays to the feast day of the Sacred Heart on Friday 19 June 2020.

Mass and devotions Fridays at 7:30pm via www.navanparish.ie/webcam.

• Petitions and prayer requests (some of which will be read during Friday devotions) can be sent to webcam@navanparish.ie.
• You can leave them in the petition box at the Sacred Heart altar
• Petitions can be sent by post to
St Mary’s Parish, Fair Green, Navan, County Meath.
